PA Deputy President Kenny Kunene remains defiant after sharing controversial social media posts calling for capital punishment for illegal miners, prompting EFF to threaten human rights commission action.
THE PATRIOTIC Alliance’s (PA) deputy president Kenny Kunene said in a video that he is “unfazed” by the EFF’s threats to report him to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
Kunene’s very colourful words come after he posted a graphic image on X over the weekend that suggested all people involved in illegal mining within the borders of South Africa shall be hanged should the PA govern.
The EFF immediately slammed Kunene for sharing dehumanising content that incited violence and loudly suggesting the capital punishment of zama-zamas.
Kunene’s controversial remarks are amid the Stilfontein zama-zama saga that led to the retrieval of about 2,000 illegal miners who were reportedly trapped underground.
Despite the EFF’s backlash, Kunene, who is the Transport MMC in the Johannesburg metro, instead accused Julius Malema of hating South Africans and leading a cult.
“I am not fazed by the actions of Malema. He has shown on many occasions that he is a lover of illegal foreigners,” said Kunene.
He added Malema is leading a party that supports illegal foreigners, who continue to steal the country’s wealth.
Kunene then confirmed that his post on X meant that illegal miners would be met with the death penalty should the PA take over government.
He said zama-zamas are a leading demographic in crime.
“These illegal foreigners who are mining our gold underground illegally, when they come out of the underground like rats, they go and rape young South Africans.
“They rob South Africans. They kill and murder South Africans. We saw in the West Rand when they raped young girls who were trying to make a living,” said Kunene.
As a party that is against illegal immigration, the PA supports the deportation and hanging of illegal foreigners who are caught in criminal activities.
“We are not fazed as the Patriotic Alliance. Our stance is very clear that all illegal foreigners must be deported. Our position is very clear that illegal foreigners who steal the wealth of this country will be hanged.
“We choose to hang them unapologetically when we are in power. This wealth belongs to South Africans to pay for free education, to increase the payouts of pensioners, and to build this country and its infrastructure,” said Kunene.
