KIMBERLEY Visible Policing unit members arrested two suspects on Friday after information was received of unknown men allegedly stealing copper cables at Kamfers Dam.
It is alleged that two men, aged 26 and 19, were found in possession of 50 metres of copper cable (2 core) and 30 metres of copper cable (24 core), with an estimated value of R19,000, as well as five spades and a hacksaw.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane said that the suspects were apprehended by warrant officers Joe Ruiter and Harry Sherriff after they tried to run away.
The two suspects will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of theft of copper cable.
