THE POLICE in Nababeep are investigating a culpable homicide case after two people were killed in an accident that occurred on the road between Okiep and Nababeep on October 12.

According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam, the incident involved four high school pupils and a fifth person who were returning from a rugby match in Nababeep.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of a Toyota Avanza lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the death of one occupant on the scene. The driver later succumbed to his injuries in the Springbok hospital,” said Sam.

He added that the three remaining passengers were still in critical but stable condition in hospital.

“The police are investigating the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life. The investigations are continuing,” Sam concluded.
