A TEENAGER who attacked and robbed a 66-year-old woman on a farm in Marydale was given a 12-year prison sentence by the Prieska Regional Court on August 27.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said the 19-year-old accused, Jovelle Jadan Floors, fled the scene with the woman’s belongings following the incident that took place on October 13, 2023.

“The accused was traced and arrested the following day near Vanwyksvlei. His bail was successfully opposed,” said Shemane.

He added that Floors was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, of which two years were suspended for five years.
