THE BOTHITONG police have arrested a 39-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old woman whose body was found in a culvert along the Cassel/Louwna road on Tuesday, January 7.
According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam, preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was allegedly assaulted at the suspect’s residence in Cassel village, tied up, transported in the boot of a vehicle, and later dumped in the culvert.
The suspect is set to appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court on Friday, January 10.
The Northern Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, commended the investigating team for their swift response in ensuring that perpetrators of gender-based violence and femicide are held accountable.
