THE INDEPENDENT Examinations Board (IEB) released its 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results on Monday, and once again, St Patrick’s Christian Brothers’ College (CBC) in Kimberley achieved a 100% matric pass rate, with 85.5% of learners from the school’s Class of 2024 qualifying for university admission.

This marks the 14th consecutive year that St Patrick’s CBC has achieved a 100% pass rate.

The school’s executive head, Craig Neave, attributed the outstanding results to the dedication and resilience of the learners.

“Our students have demonstrated not only academic excellence but also the ability to thrive in a dynamic learning environment. We are incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding achievements. Their success is a testament to their commitment and the unwavering support of our dedicated teachers and staff. We look forward to seeing them excel in their future academic pursuits,” said Neave.

He also highlighted the remarkable achievement of the school’s top performer, who overcame personal challenges and a significant age gap to emerge as the overall best achiever.

“Our top candidate is Doka Matla, who comes from Lesotho. He was the Head Prefect for 2024 and Dux of the school – all this in spite of being two full years younger than the rest of his grade. His 7 A’s were achieved in the face of adversity, having lost his father in 2021 and his mother in 2024. The caring and loving nature of St Patrick’s assisted him in overcoming these major emotional setbacks,” said Neave.

He further emphasised that the strong university admission rate underscores the effectiveness of the IEB curriculum, which focuses on preparing learners for higher education.

“St Patrick’s CBC Kimberley continues to provide a nurturing and challenging environment that fosters both personal and academic growth. As we celebrate these achievements, we remain committed to maintaining high educational standards and supporting our students in their future endeavours,” Neave concluded.
