The Powerball jackpot is an estimated R160million for Tuesday night's draw.
The jackpot has rolled over 21 times. It is the biggest jackpot for this year.
According to National Lottery Ithuba, the record books show that South Africa's largest jackpot to date was R232 million, won in 2019, which was the biggest lottery win ever claimed on the African continent.
In September, an Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal man won R69 million.
The father purchased his ticket in-store with a R45 wager and opted to select his numbers manually.
His plans included buying a home after renting for many years and travelling with his wife.
All winnings are tax-free, and winning tickets are valid for a period of 365 days from the date of the draw.
Entrants have to be 18 years and older.
A few weeks ago, Ithuba said it was aware of information currently circulating on social media regarding the legitimacy of winners.
"We wish to assure all South Africans that the National Lottery operates under the highest levels of fairness, transparency, and accountability," Ithuba said in a statement.
"Every draw is conducted using certified systems, under strict oversight from independent auditors, and safeguarded through rigorous security protocols and surveillance."
