The Hull Street Theatre will host a carols by candlelight evening on December 22 from 6pm featuring performances from Ryan the violinist, Mars, Jackson Cassidy, Tuxx, Beryl Kruger, So Say Miss TT, Good Mood, Mogale Sedibe, Haus of Pioneer and Hayile.

Director of finance at the Hull Street Theatre company Phemelo Sediti said the event was free of charge and open to the public.

“Stalls will sell light snacks and carol sheets will be available for everyone. All you need to bring is a camping chair and a small gift for a child. We welcome anything from clothes, toys and shoes that will be distributed at the Helen BIshop Home and impoverished children living in Samaria.”

He said the Speaker of Sol Plaatje municipality Dipuo Peters and businesses in the area were expected to deliver Christmas messages.

He added that the event was part of a programme to revive the theatre.

“We want the theatre to be renovated so that dance and drama productions and workshops can be held there,” Sediti stated.

Meanwhile Operation Fiela will hold a Christmas party for the homeless at the park in Long Street on Friday at 1pm.

Chairperson of Operation Fiela Thabiso Louw invited anyone who was willing to volunteer their services or make a donation towards the event.

“We will serve a decent meal while hair will be done so that the dignity of the homeless can be restored,” he added.
