The Kimberley SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes unit are investigating a murder and attempted murder after gunshots were fired at a residence in Minerva Gardens during the early hours of Saturday morning.
SAPS Northern Cape provincial spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock said the alleged shooting incident occurred on December 21 at about 5am during an alleged dispute between two families.
“A 56 year old woman was fatally shot in the yard of the residential premises.”
He added that a 65 year old suspect allegedly also shot and wounded a 37 year old man during the incident.
“Both the victims were transported to hospital for medical treatment.
“The woman unfortunately succumbed to the gunshot wound.
“The suspect was also hospitalised with injuries he apparently sustained during the incident.”

Mediclinic Gariep Hospital patient experience manager Denise Coetzee said two patients were admitted this morning, where one had already been discharged.
Another patient was admitted to Lenmed Royal Hospital and Heart Centre.
