THE KHOI called it "Akoerebis", which means "place of enormous noise", and today the Orange River will once again roar down the 56-metre-high waterfall at Augrabies Falls.
The enormous volume of water that was released from the Vaal Dam into the Orange River this week is anticipated to peak at about 4,500 cubic metres per second (cumec) by today near the Augrabies Falls National Park, according to information from the Department of Water and Sanitation.
The following 14 days will see the flow at this high level until it progressively declines.
The Augrabies Falls National Park will be roaring with sound and a sight to behold for the next couple of weeks given these high water levels.
