THE NAMA-Khoi Local Municipality is now run by a DA mayor, Rodney Kritzinger, in line with a coalition agreement that was signed with the Namakwa Civic Movement (NCM).
DA provincial leader Harold McGluwa explained that according to the local government coalition agreement that was signed in 2021, the key positions of mayor and Speaker would be rotated halfway through the term between the DA and the NCM.
“Kritzinger, who had up to now served as the Speaker, takes up the position previously filled by Dr Gustav Bock, while Bock now fills the chair of Speaker.”
He stated that the municipality had made “significant strides” in improving service delivery and financial management since the agreement came into effect.
“While a lot of work remains, Kritzinger will focus on expanding equal access to services to all towns and wards in the Nama-Khoi district. He has also committed to improving street lights, roads and the provision of water.
“We are confident that the team will continue to build extensively on the work already done in Springbok and surrounding towns,” McGluwa added.
