Man gets 15 years behind bars for stabbing ex-girlfriend

A 52-year-old man who attacked his ex-girlfriend, 36, and stabbed her multiple times in Snake Park was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Galeshewe Regional Court.

A 52-YEAR-old man who attacked his ex-girlfriend, 36, and stabbed her multiple times in Snake Park was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Galeshewe Regional Court.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said the accused, Thabo Justice Tshikane, attacked the woman in her home on April 15, 2022.

“She was ultimately rescued following the intervention of community members who broke her door down to gain entrance and saved her,” said Sam.

“The accused was found guilty of attempted murder on April 10 and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.”

The SAPS Northern Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, commended the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Khalala Seotsa, for the “thorough investigation that led to the conviction”.
