The Kimberley SPCA successfully confiscated five horses from a property in Ritchie on Thursday.

These animals, who have clearly suffered neglect, are now in the care of the organisation. However, the animals desperately need the community’s help to recover and thrive.

The horses are currently stabled, but the SPCA is running low on essential supplies needed to nurse them back to health. To assist in their recovery, they are urgently appealing for donations of teff, eragrostis, lucerne, and horse feed pellets.

“These items are crucial as our current stock is nearly depleted,” a representative of the SPCA told the DFA.

“In addition to feed, they require deworming paste. We have already booked a farrier to tend to their hooves. A veterinarian will also be assessing the horses’ conditions and will provide a comprehensive treatment and feeding plan to guide their recovery,” the representative added.

If you can donate any of the items mentioned, please contact the SPCA at 053 831 7625 or 082 376 7679. Even the smallest contribution can make a huge difference in these animals’ lives.

Alternatively, monetary donations are also welcome to support their care. You can contribute via:

This situation highlights the importance of community involvement in protecting and caring for animals in need.

The Kimberley SPCA relies heavily on the support of compassionate individuals to provide for the well-being of animals like these horses. Every act of generosity – whether it’s a donation of feed, supplies, or funds – plays a crucial role in giving these and other animals a second chance at life.
