Foundation to hand over school shoes to Platfontein learners
THE UNAMANDLA-Isagoentle Foundation will visit !Xunkhwesa Combined School in Platfontein on Friday to distribute school shoes and goodies to the !Xun and Khwe learners.
The foundation was initiated by 16-year-old Kimberley teenager Unamandla Vilakazi, Miss Teen Mundial South Africa 2023.
The foundation, which focuses on education and keeping vulnerable children in school, will spread some cheer and distribute 200 pairs of school shoes.
Many of the children who attend the school are from vulnerable homes and are beneficiaries of child support grants.
The teen-founded Northern Cape foundation, which will be bringing the Miss Teen Universe pageant to South Africa in partnership with the Miss Teen Universe organisation, will this week join the global community in marking International Nelson Mandela Day and Week.
Additionally, the foundation will distribute specially crafted bath soap bars from Maple Skin Care products.
The local skin care company has partnered with the Unamandla-Isagoentle Foundation, donating a portion of the proceeds to support the foundation ahead of the Miss Teen Universe pageant later this year.
In the lead-up to the Miss Teen Universe pageant being staged in South Africa, the foundation will undertake several philanthropic projects.
Ahead of Mandela Day, one of the pageant ambassadors from the Philippines, Miss Universal Woman 2024 Maria Gigante, visited the country and paid a visit to Resthaven Home for children and elderly in Gauteng.
Gigante is currently helping the charity organisation raise funds to expand their home.
The Miss Teen Universe pageant, coming to South Africa for the first time, will be held across three provinces from the end of October to November 10. Kimberley and the Northern Cape will be part of the festivities, along with Gauteng and the Western Cape.
