COMMUNITY members caught a suspected cable thief in Galeshewe Number 2 on April 9 and handed him over to the police.
Sol Plaatje Municipality spokesperson Thabo Mothibi said the suspects were involved in a "brazen daylight act" of cable theft that left large parts of Galeshewe without power on Wednesday morning.
"The outage has been restricted to a portion of Number 2 and Santa at this stage amid the widespread outage," he added.
A 32-year-old suspect was handed over to the police, alleging that the mastermind behind the theft is a Lesotho national who has been selling stolen cables to a local business.
Mothibi added that a second suspect was caught on Wednesday afternoon.
