THE KURUMAN Stock Theft unit, with the assistance of the K9, Highway Patrol and Visible Policing units, arrested a suspect with six suspected stolen goat carcasses.
This follows after 22 goats were stolen from a property in Kuruman recently.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the suspect was also found in possession of 13 goat heads.
Kock added that 12 suspected drug dealers were arrested during Vala Konke intelligence operations over the weekend.
“The Highway Patrol, K9, Crime Intelligence and Visible Policing units at different stations followed up on information and arrested four suspects for the possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R26,000 in Pabalelo, Upington.”
Kock said that the Hopetown police raided a house and seized 295 mandrax tablets and dagga with an estimated street value of R20,000.
“A 22-year-old male suspect was arrested.”
Kock added that another male suspect was arrested in Kuruman after he was found in possession of tik and dagga with an estimated street value of R21,751.
“The police cleaned up streets and also arrested several suspects for riotous behaviour and drunkenness.”
He said that three suspects were arrested in Danielskuil for dealing in drugs with an estimated street value of about R2,500.
“In two separate incidents in Postmasburg, one suspect was arrested in Newtown and another suspect was arrested in White City for dealing in drugs. The dagga and mandrax seized have an estimated street value of R12,000.”
Kock stated that police clean-up operations would continue during the festive season and beyond.
