A 22-year-old Loxton man was arrested for suspected stock theft and assault after allegedly stabbing a community member who questioned him about meat in his shanty.

A 22-YEAR-OLD man is set to face the consequences of his actions in court after being arrested in Loxton on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a community member and being in possession of suspected stolen stock produce.
The incident occurred when a community member approached the suspect's shanty, enquiring about the smell of fresh meat. The suspect allegedly responded by stabbing the individual with a sharp object.
Police patrolling the area were flagged down by the injured victim, who reported the incident. Officers then attended to the complaint and arrested the suspect, who failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the meat in his possession.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen stock produce and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Farmers in the area who may be missing livestock are urged to contact their nearest police station or call the SAPS Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
SAPS in the Pixley Ka Seme District said it remains committed to tackling stock theft and ensuring rural community safety.
