THE Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development is conducting oversight visits in the Northern Cape from February 2-6.
It will engage land reform beneficiaries, including Communal Property Associations (CPAs) and Equity Schemes in Upington, Kuruman and Kimberley and assess the support of the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development on the CPAs after they acquired land through the land reform programme.
The committee will also visit some of the Equity Schemes and post-settlement support farms to assess the impact of government intervention and support initiatives to capacitate beneficiaries.
The committee will meet with traditional leaders and the Land Claims Commission in Kuruman on Wednesday.
Meetings will also be held with officials from the Office of the Regional Land Claims Commissioner in the Northern Cape to discuss complaints that were submitted to the committee on February 5 at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre.
