A suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in the Kimberley CBD.

POLICE have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a Shoprite store in Kimberley’s CBD after an employee was shot during the incident in Currey Street early on January 18.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Warrant Officer Molefi Shemane said four men reportedly entered the business premises at around 6am, where they threatened and assaulted staff members.
“One staff member was shot in the left hand by one of the assailants, while the store was robbed of a substantial amount of money,” he said.
Shemane added that a 44-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the armed robbery.
“The injured staff member was discharged from hospital and is recovering. The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Murder and Robbery Unit is investigating the armed robbery. The investigation continues,” he said.
