THE PowerBall jackpot has skyrocketed to an estimated R177 million, setting the stage for what promises to be a life-changing draw tonight.

This staggering amount positions itself as the second-largest in the history of the South African National Lottery, with ticket sales closing at 8.30pm.

The current record stands at a whopping R232 million, won in 2019 under the operation of Ithuba, the National Lottery operator.

Since taking the reins in 2015, Ithuba has been instrumental in revitalising the National Lottery, with massive jackpots like this one testament to their success.

"We celebrate this jackpot as yet another National Lottery milestone," says Charmaine Mabuza, Ithuba CEO. "Our goal was to create life-changing jackpots, and we're proud to be breaking our own records."

With the draw looming, hopeful participants have until 8.30pm to get their tickets in.

Will tonight be the night someone's life changes forever? The anticipation is palpable!
