MEMBERS of the Kimberley Public Order Police (POP) Unit apprehended three men in Galeshewe on Thursday, 15 January 2026, during routine crime‑prevention patrols.
While conducting patrols along Tyson Road, officers observed suspicious activity by a group of men and stopped to search them. The search uncovered a substantial quantity of suspected mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R1,800, as well as cash believed to be proceeds of the illicit trade.
The three suspects, all 21‑year‑old males, were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs. The seized items are being held as evidence while investigations continue.
The men are expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court in the coming days.
The POP Unit praised the community’s cooperation and reiterated its commitment to curbing drug‑related crime in the area. “Our patrols are aimed at keeping our streets safe, and today’s operation demonstrates the effectiveness of proactive policing,” said a spokesperson for the unit.
