St Patrick's CBC matriculant Ammaarah Bham's four distinctions that she obtained during the 2025 Independent Examination Board examinations will allow her to live out her dream of becoming a dentist.

Coming from a family of doctors, Bham said that she wished to continue the legacy.

"I've wanted to have a career in dentistry for as long as I can remember.  I always look forward to sitting in the dentist's chair for check ups and I am fascinated with teeth."

Bham said she was surprised to learn that she had received distinctions in Maths, Afrikaans additional language, LIfe Sciences and Life Orientation.

"I was very relieved as I was worried about my Maths and Life Sciences papers. I am satisfied with all my marks. I have applied to further my studies at the University of the Western Cape, the University of Pretoria and University of the Witswatersrand. My first choice would be to study in Cape Town."

She attributed her success to hard work and the support of her family.

"My mom passed away at the beginning of my matric year and it was a difficult time. I was motivated to do my best as I wanted to make her proud. She was my biggest support as a single parent and I  am an only child. I studied between five to six hours per day including weekends and holidays. I cut down on extra-mural activities where I served on the Rotary Interactive Club so that I could focus on my studies."

Bham encouraged the Class of 2026 to work hard and said she had celebrated with her friends after receiving their results on Monday.

"Believe in God because He will never let you down, Don't stress and always do your best,"  she advised.
