POLICE in the Northern Cape have launched a search for a man who vanished after leaving work on a farm outside Riemvasmaak, sparking concern among colleagues and family as days pass without any trace of him.

Kgwaile Andries Tau was reported missing on December 25 after he failed to return to the room where he was staying. According to police, Tau was last seen on December 24 at Bakenrandt Farm, where he had reported feeling ill and was released from duty.

What has troubled investigators is that Tau left his workplace but never arrived back at his residence. Efforts to locate him through relatives have also yielded no answers. Although Tau is originally from Limpopo, his family there has not seen or heard from him, deepening fears about his whereabouts.

At the time of his disappearance, Tau was wearing brown chino pants, a blue T-shirt, and a blue-and-white baseball cap.

The police are appealing to anyone who may have seen Tau or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward. The investigating officer, Sergeant Peterson, can be contacted on 071 074 7194, while information can also be shared anonymously via Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Omphile Masegela reiterated that there is no waiting period when reporting a missing person and urged community members to act swiftly if they have any leads.

Police say all assistance from the public will be greatly appreciated as the search continues.
