FAMILIES and holidaymakers in Kimberley will once again be able to enjoy one of Riverton’s most popular leisure destinations when Langleg Pleasure Resort officially reopens to the public on Wednesday, December 24.
The announcement was made this week by the executive mayor of Sol Plaatje Municipality, Martha Bartlett, during a media tour and state-of-readiness inspection of municipal resorts and public swimming pools across the city.
Bartlett was accompanied by the Speaker of Council, Dipuo Peters, as well as members of the mayoral committee, as officials assessed the condition of facilities ahead of the festive season influx.
Langleg Pleasure Resort had suffered severe damage during recent flooding, prompting refurbishment work. According to the municipality, the resort’s swimming pool has since been refurbished, while the chalets have also undergone upgrades to ensure they are safe and ready for public use.
The mayoral delegation also visited the Brian Hermanus public swimming pool in Florianville, where Bartlett urged officials and contractors to complete outstanding repairs and refurbishments in time for the new year.
If weather conditions allow work to proceed as planned, both the Brian Hermanus pool and the Roodepan public swimming pool are expected to open to the public on New Year’s Day, providing additional recreational options for residents seeking relief from the summer heat.
The inspections form part of the municipality’s broader efforts to ensure public facilities are safe, accessible and fully operational during the busy festive period.
