Northern Cape accused sentenced to 10 years for rape of eight year old girl
A 16‑year‑old offender was jailed for raping an 8-year-old in Loeriesfontein.

JUSTICE has been served on behalf of an eight-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted by a 16-year-old boy in Loeriesfontein.
The offences occurred on July 31 2023, when the accused entered the bedroom of the eight-year-old girl and assaulted her.
The victim reported the incident to family members, prompting an investigation by the Calvinia Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.
After turning 18 years old in 2025, the offender was tried as an adult, whereupon he was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment for each count. The sentences will run concurrently.
SAPS provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola praised Detective Constable Jacques Nielsen for his thorough investigation, which secured the conviction and provided justice for the victim and her family.
