The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the ZF Mgcawu District arrested a 30‑year‑old man on December 9, following a tip‑off they received about alleged illegal drug sales in Raaswater.
Acting on the intelligence, members of the ZF Mgcawu District Task Team and Upington Crime Prevention obtained a search warrant and conducted a coordinated raid on the suspect’s residence.
During the search, police discovered Tik (methamphetamine) and Mandrax tablets hidden in a container on the roof of the house.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of R14 ,200. The suspect is expected to appear before the Upington Magistrate’s Court shortly on charges of drug dealing.
District Commissioner ZF Mgcawu Major General Monica Sebili said the operation underscored the SAPS’ commitment to community policing and to disrupting the supply of illicit substances, especially during the festive season
“We commend the informer for coming forward; their bravery helped make this successful bust,” the commissioner added.
