A 25-YEAR-OLD man from Danielskuil has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the horrendous sexual abuse of five young girls, during a period from December 2019 to May 2020.
The sentence was delivered by the Danielskuil Regional Court.
The court found the accused guilty of two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. Testimonies revealed a chilling pattern of behaviour where the man lured his victims, aged between just seven and 12 years, into his home under false pretences, subsequently subjecting them to unspeakable acts of violence and control.
The crimes remained hidden for several years until May 2025, when two of the brave young girls found the courage to disclose their trauma to their parents. Following their revelations, the victims' families reported the incidents to law enforcement, leading not only to the arrest of the man but also to three more victims coming forward with similar accounts of abuse.
As a result of the investigations led by Constable Boitshepo Bele at the Danielskuil police station, authorities were able to compile five distinct cases, which ultimately resulted in the conviction of the perpetrator. The court’s breakdown of the sentences is particularly noteworthy:
Importantly, the prison terms for Counts 2, 4, and 5 will run concurrently with those from Counts 1 and 3. In addition, the accused has been declared unfit to possess a firearm, and his name will be recorded in the National Register of Sexual Offenders.
Major General Monica Sebili, District Commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, praised Constable Bele for her diligent investigative work, acknowledging the critical role it played in ensuring justice for the victims.
“This outcome sets a powerful precedent and sends a strong message that such horrific acts against children will not be tolerated,” she stated.
