THE annual Beauty of Queens Women's Gala was held at the Vaal Inn Resort in Barkly West on November 22, commemorating the strength of survivors and unity in the fight against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
Founder of the Beauty of Queens movement Shirley Arries said the gathering was a reminder that women from all walks of life were worthy, powerful, and deserving of safety and love.
“This year’s programme featured an exceptional line-up of keynote voices who delivered emotional, spiritual, and mental empowerment to more than 500 attendees, including survivors of abuse, women from shelters, community leaders, and supporters of the anti-GBV movement.
“The Beauty of Queens Gala offers survivors an evening to uplift themselves, restore their confidence, and remind them of their worth.”
Arries added that with GBV declared a national disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa, women could not afford to remain silent against abuse.
“Healing is possible, empowerment is necessary, and unity is powerful," she added.
