AS SHOPPERS prepare to take advantage of the "Black Friday Discount Shopping" period, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Northern Cape is urging consumers to remain vigilant and alert at all times.
According to SAPS, this period often sees an increase in robberies occurring at or near ATMs, and the public is advised to adhere to the following safety tips:
SAPS is also warning shoppers to be cautious when making online purchases, saying, "Always exercise extreme caution when purchasing goods online. Always use reputable sites and verify details. Never share your banking details. Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true."
"SAPS appeals to communities to work together with law enforcement in the fight against crime to ensure a safer and crime-free festive season for all," said Sergeant Molefi Shemane, SAPS spokesperson.
