Dagga seized from two passengers of a minibus taxi on the R357 after Douglas police intercepted the vehicle following a tip-off.

THE DOUGLAS police arrested two taxi passengers, a 33-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, for possession of a large quantity of dagga.
The arrest was made on Sunday, November 16, after a tip-off led officers from the Douglas Crime Prevention unit to stop and search a minibus taxi on the R357 road. A significant amount of dagga was recovered and seized during the operation.
According to police reports, the suspects were en route to Douglas when they were intercepted by the authorities. The dagga has been confiscated and will be used as evidence in the upcoming trial.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Douglas Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of possession of dagga. Investigation into the matter continues, with police looking into the origin and intended destination of the seized dagga.
The police urge anyone with information about similar activities to come forward and assist with investigations.
"We appreciate the public's vigilance and co-operation in helping us combat drug-related crimes in our community," said Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Merapelo Pilane.
