Colesberg police arrested a 39-year-old foreign national on the N1 towards the Eastern Cape.

A 39-year-old foreign national was arrested, and a large quantity of dagga was seized in a swift operation by Colesberg SAPS on Thursday.
The police acted on information received about the possible transportation of drugs on the N1 towards the Eastern Cape, intercepting an Isuzu bakkie near a fuel station at approximately 5am.
Several bags of dagga were found at the back of the vehicle, with an estimated street value of R12.3 million. The suspect is expected to appear in court soon on a charge of illegal dealing in drugs.
Pixley ka Seme District Commissioner, Major General Nomana Mtukushe, commended the members for their swift action and the community for providing valuable information regarding criminal activities. She reiterated that the utilisation of national routes for the transportation of narcotics will be reinforced during the festive season to curb the trafficking of drugs.
The police operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Northern Cape.
