Police seek public's help in tracing suspects in two rape cases

THE South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Northern Cape is appealing for public assistance in tracing two men who may help with investigations into separate rape cases reported at Barkly West and Kagisho Police Stations.

In the first case, a woman was allegedly raped at her home in Haak 'n Steek, Barkly West, on September 9, 2025, by a man known as "Skomoto" and his friend. The suspect is described as a South African male, aged 40-45, dark brown complexion, slender build, about 1.7m tall, with a tattoo on his left arm. He was wearing a blue bush cap and spoke fluent Setswana.

In the second case, a woman was allegedly raped in an abandoned house in Phutanang, Kagisho, on November 6, 2025. The suspect is an African male, aged 21-26, slender build, about 1.5m tall, with dark eyes and two facial scars. He speaks Setswana and Afrikaans and wore a brown V-neck jersey, jeans, and a black beanie at the time of the incident.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigations. "We believe that the public may have valuable information that can help us track down these suspects and bring them to justice," said Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Litabe, Corporate Communication, Northern Cape.
