THE HAWKS Serious Corruption Investigation team served summons on two company directors, Joseph Solani, 51, and Frank Makhabane, 47, as well as Kapa Koni Investment CC, to appear before the Kimberley Magistrates' Court on November 11.

Hawks Northern Cape spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Tebogo Thebe stated that, according to the allegations, Solani and his company, Kapa Kono Investment CC, with the assistance of a tax consultant (Makhabane), failed to submit income revenue tax returns to South African Revenue Services (SARS) with the intention to evade tax obligations.

"The deception resulted in SARS suffering an actual prejudice to an amount of R5.7 million."

He indicated that the accused were charged with Contravention of the Tax Act.

Thebe said the matter was postponed until November 27 to enable accused number three to appoint a legal representative.
