THE PREMIER of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, commended police officers for their dedication and bravery when he officiated at the handing-over ceremony of Loyal Service Medals to 146 deserving members of the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The ceremony, held in Kimberley, recognised the officers' dedicated service spanning 10, 20, and 30 years. The event was attended by senior government officials, including the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Limakatso Koloi, and the provincial commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola.
In her welcoming address, Lieutenant-General Otola expressed her appreciation to the members for their commitment to upholding the values of the SAPS as set out in the Constitution of South Africa.
"When police officials are being attacked and murdered by community members while executing their duties, it is a direct attack on the state and will not be allowed," she said, emphasising the gravity of the challenges faced by police officers in the line of duty.
Premier Zamani Saul congratulated the recipients and commended them for their unwavering dedication, bravery, and selfless service to the people of the Northern Cape.
