The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, and the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Ms Limakatso Koloi, officially launched the Safer Festive Season Operations in the Pixley Ka Seme District on October 23.
The launch event, held at the Merino Stadium in De Aar, was attended by various stakeholders, including government departments, law enforcement agencies, and sponsors.

Before the launch, a Medal Parade was held at the SA Army Ammunition Depot in De Aar, where 34 officers and members were awarded medals for 20 and 10 years of loyal and dedicated service.

MEC Koloi emphasised the importance of community participation in ensuring a safe festive season. She urged residents to work with the police and report any suspicious activity.
The Provincial Commissioner also highlighted the need for zero tolerance towards crime and encouraged the public to support law enforcement agencies.
Various units, including the SAPS Airwing, Tactical Response Team, and K9 Unit, participated in the display.

The SAPS showcased their operational readiness through a simulation and show of force, featuring various units, including the Tactical Response Team, Public Order Police, and K9 Unit. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, Major General Nomana Mtukushe.
The Safer Festive Season Operations will continue to intensify law enforcement efforts across the Northern Cape, with a focus on priority areas and crime trends.
