Despite grey skies and a forecast predicting rain, the spirit of fun and community shone bright at Elizabeth Conradie School’s annual Colour Run this weekend. The event, held to raise funds for next year’s matric farewell, drew close to 100 enthusiastic participants, a strong turnout that exceeded expectations.
Organisers expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming outside support the school received. “Well, under the circumstances or the forecasted rain, we had good attendance. Almost 100 people. There was so much outside support, which is so appreciated,” one of the organisers said.
While the morning started with a few technical hiccups, particularly with the sound system, once the music started playing, the energy and excitement took off. Laughter, cheering, and bursts of colourful powder filled the air as participants of all ages joined in the fun.
Stained clothes and smiling faces were the norm on the day.

One of the most heartwarming sights of the day was seeing the school’s blind and deaf learners fully engaged in the event. Accompanied by their supervisors, they walked, danced, and played for more than an hour, enjoying every moment of the colourful celebration.
Even the teachers couldn’t resist joining the fun. By the end of the run, many were completely covered in paint and foam, sharing smiles and laughter with their students.
Some of the teachers were splashed with coulor as part of the day's fun.

In addition to the colour run, the event offered food stalls and jumping castles, making it a family-friendly morning filled with activity and community spirit.
The day concluded at 10am with a lucky draw, marking the end of a safe, joyful, and successful fundraiser.
As if to bless the occasion, the sky finally opened after the event ended, washing away the powder paint and leaving behind a perfect rainbow, a fitting symbol of hope and unity for the school community.
Learners enjoyed a fun-packed morning.
