A Philipstown man, Ntlanzeko Mbatha, has been sentenced to six years of direct imprisonment for business burglary and theft.

A 33-year-old Philipstown man, Ntlanzeko Mbatha, has been sentenced to six years of direct imprisonment for business burglary and theft.
The De Aar Regional Court found Mbatha guilty on Monday, September 29, 2025, and also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
The incident occurred on January 14, 2025, at approximately 7.30pm, when the complainant secured his business premises, ensuring all doors and windows were properly locked. However, the following morning, a passerby alerted the complainant that the business had been broken into.
The police were immediately informed, and a case was registered. Investigations swiftly led to the tracing and arrest of Mbatha.
Bail was successfully opposed by the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Zwelandile Nolusu, resulting in Mbatha remaining in custody until his conviction and sentencing.
