TWO MEMBERS of the Kuruman SAPS Crime Prevention Unit arrested seven suspects, aged between 19 and 31, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Kuruman on Saturday.
While on routine patrols, the officers noticed a suspicious vehicle and conducted a search, discovering a 9mm pistol with a tampered serial number and rounds of ammunition.
All seven suspects were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. They are expected to appear in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court soon.
The provincial commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, commended the members for their vigilance and swift response to criminal activity.
She reiterated that the police will continue, without relent, to clamp down on the proliferation of illegal firearms in the Kuruman area.
