Urgent search under way for missing 81-year-old Kimberley man

The Kimberley SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes unit is seeking assistance in locating 81-year-old John Van Wyk, who went missing on September 1, 2025. Van Wyk was last seen by his niece at their home in Colville, Kimberley, at approximately 9pm that evening.

According to the police, Van Wyk has epilepsy and is described as 1.7 meters tall, with a dark complexion and medium build. He speaks Afrikaans and was dressed in a grey top, dark blue tracksuit pants, and was barefoot when he went missing.

The police emphasise that there is no waiting period to report a missing person and urge anyone with information to come forward immediately. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are counting on public assistance to ensure Van Wyk's safe return.
