The Northern Cape Provincial Tracking Team has successfully apprehended a wanted murder suspect, 38-year-old Ragel Baardman, in Cape Town.
Baardman was on the run since 2020 after allegedly stabbing her 47-year-old uncle to death in Calvinia.
During the incident an argument reportedly broke out, during which she allegedly armed herself with a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. The uncle later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Baardman has evaded the law ever since she was granted bail and absconded.
She was arrested on August 25 following an extensive intelligence-driven investigation that was aided by public tips.
The Provincial Tracking Team located Baardman at the Zonnebloem informal settlement in Cape Town.
Baardman was expected to appear in the Calvinia magistrate's Court on August 26.
