Police in the Pixley Ka Seme District have arrested three men in connection with a stock theft case in De Aar.
On Sunday, 10 August 2025, SAPS received information about three unknown men carrying bags suspected to contain meat. Members of the local police, assisted by the Highway Patrol, located the suspects at a hiking spot near a farm.
A search revealed meat in the bags. Further investigation led police to a farm in the De Aar district, where it was confirmed that the meat came from an allegedly stolen Stud Dorper ram valued at about R50,000.
The suspects, aged 20, 50 and 52, were arrested and charged with stock theft.
The District Commissioner of Pixley Ka Seme, Major General Nomana Mtukushe, commended the members for their swift response and decisive action in ensuring the suspects were brought to justice.
The police urge farmers to implement the SAPS stock theft safety tips and measures to safeguard their livestock, as reported cases of stock theft have increased in the area.
