A ROSEDALE woman is expected to appear in court soon after she was caught with a stash of drugs, cash, and suspected stolen jewellery worth nearly R100,000 during a police operation in Upington.
The 42-year-old suspect was arrested earlier this week after members of the Upington Border Police followed up on information pointing to an alleged drug house in the area. Upon searching the premises, officers uncovered a significant cache, including mandrax tablets, methamphetamine, and jewellery believed to be stolen. A large amount of cash was also seized.
The total estimated value of the confiscated items is R95,000.
According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela, the swift operation formed part of Operation Shanela II, which continues to tighten the vice on crime across the province.
The ZF Mgcawu district commissioner, Major-General Monica Sebili, praised the efforts of the SAPS members, saying the operation marked another strong step towards clearing drugs off the streets.
A significant quantity of mandrax, methamphetamine, and suspected stolen jewellery was recovered during the search.
