The semi-final episode of The Taste Master SA was nothing short of spectacular, with the final three contestants pushing the boundaries of culinary excellence at the breathtaking Vuur.
KwaZulu-Natal's Kershnie Govender, a self-employed catering business owner, captivated audiences with her unique cooking style, but unfortunately, her journey on the show came to an end.
Kershnie's cooking philosophy, grounded in simplicity, boldness, and beauty, was inspired by her grandmother's nurturing kitchen. Throughout the season, she consistently blended fresh ingredients with fearless flavours to create deeply comforting meals.
Her dream of opening her restaurant fueled her ambition, and The Taste Master SA proved to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her to gain invaluable exposure, skills, and confidence.
In the semi-final challenge, Kershnie was tasked with transforming a classic South African braai into a gourmet three-course feast. Despite being out of her comfort zone, she drew inspiration from the classic braai and gave it her Indian spice twist.
Working under the watchful eye of renowned Chef Shaun Scrooby, Kershnie received valuable feedback on mastering the control of heat and fire.
As Kershnie reflected on her journey, she expressed her gratitude for making it to the Top 3, saying it was a dream come true. She credited the competition with teaching her adaptability, resilience, and the importance of trusting herself and her unique culinary voice.
Although Kershnie didn't make it to the grand finale, she plans to leverage the exposure, skills, and confidence gained from The Taste Master SA to grow her catering business and bring her dream of opening her restaurant closer to reality.
As the competition moves forward with Lucky and Chevonne, Kershnie leaves a lasting legacy, having cooked her way into the hearts of the nation. Her next big adventure is just beginning, and fans can't wait to see what's next for this talented chef.
