A 33-YEAR-old Hartswater father has been arrested for the murder of his 15-month-old daughter, following a shocking incident that has rocked the small Northern Cape community of Thagadiepaelajang, Hartswater.
According to provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, the toddler was left in the care of her father and a babysitter on the morning of Tuesday, July 22, while the mother went to work at around 9am. The babysitter later rushed the child to a nearby clinic in a desperate attempt to save her life.
However, the toddler was declared dead on arrival.
The police wasted no time in arresting the child’s father, who is expected to appear in the Hartswater Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder.
