THE NORTHERN Cape Provincial Organised Crime unit has made two significant arrests in a display of zero tolerance towards crime. On Saturday, July 19, 2025, a 50-year-old man was arrested for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, while a 34-year-old Chinese national was apprehended for corruption.
The operation began when investigators executed a search warrant on a farm between Kimberley and Windsorton, acting on received information. During the raid, alleged unlicensed firearms and ammunition were recovered, and the farm owner failed to provide relevant documentation regarding ownership. He was subsequently arrested.
In a separate incident, a sting operation was conducted at a bottle store in Kimberley, where the Chinese national was caught allegedly purchasing a docket for an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was found with the docket on the premises and was arrested for corruption.
The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, praised the investigative teams for their swift action and thanked the community for reporting criminal activities.
