Murder suspect who evaded arrest for 5 years apprehended in Upington

IN A SIGNIFICANT breakthrough, the Northern Cape Tracking Team has successfully arrested a 25-year-old female suspect wanted in connection with a brutal murder that took place in 2020. The suspect had been evading arrest for five years, but thanks to the diligent efforts of the Provincial Tracking Team and Rosedale SAPS Detectives, she was finally apprehended in the Paballelo informal settlement in Upington on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

The murder occurred in the farming area known as "Ses Brugge," near Upington, where the suspect's husband was tragically killed. The investigation had been ongoing for years, but the suspect's whereabouts remained unknown until recent intelligence led the tracking team to her doorstep. The team's persistence and dedication to solving the case have brought closure to the victim's family and friends.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Upington Magistrate's Court soon, facing charges related to the murder. The SAPS Provincial Management commended the members involved in the operation for their exceptional work in tracing and apprehending the suspect, who was listed among the province's top 50 most wanted individuals.
