A swift response by the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation unit in the Northern Cape has led to the arrest of three suspects, aged 27, 33, and 34, on charges of extortion.
The suspects allegedly entered the site office of a road construction project subcontractor in Postmasburg on July 16, threatening the manager and demanding money.
Acting on the report, the investigating team apprehended the suspects on July 17 in Postmasburg. They are expected to appear in court on July 18.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola praised the team for their prompt response and professionalism, emphasising that extortion and intimidation will not be tolerated.
The public is reminded to report incidents of extortion to the National hotline at 0800 911 011, with information treated confidentially.
