A coordinated effort by the Northern Cape Tracking Team has led to the arrest of a 64-year-old murder suspect in Mossel Bay, nearly five years after the brutal killing of his sister in Kimberley.
The suspect was apprehended in Heiderand, Mossel Bay, on Wednesday, 9 July 2025, following a joint operation involving the Da Gamaskop and Mossel Bay SAPS, the Western Cape Sea Border Unit, and the Northern Cape’s own tracking specialists.
Sergeants Cedric Nelson and Given Mokoena, from the Northern Cape Tracking Team, acted on information about the suspect’s whereabouts and tracked him down successfully.
He is expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.
Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, commended the successful outcome of the inter-provincial partnership that led to the apprehension of the wanted suspect. The suspect had been evading law enforcement, and his capture highlights the dedication and effectiveness of the tracking team and their partner agencies.
