NC man sentenced to 8 years for attempted murder of former girlfriend

Siphosethu Dweba has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for stabbing his former girlfriend, Sesethu Abram, multiple times in December 2024.

THE COLESBERG Regional Court has handed down a significant sentence to 26-year-old Siphosethu Dweba, who was found guilty of attempted murder. Dweba's former girlfriend, 24-year-old Sesethu Abram, was the victim in the case.

According to the testimony presented in court, the incident occurred on December 12, 2024, when Dweba stabbed Abram multiple times in the back, arm, and chest. The accused was arrested shortly after the attack.

The investigation, led by Detective Sergeant Zukhile Phololo of the Kuyasa Detective Unit, played a crucial role in securing the conviction. The court sentenced Dweba to eight years of direct imprisonment and also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.

The effective collaboration between the investigators and the prosecution team was instrumental in achieving this outcome.

The South African Police Service has commited to remain resolute in its efforts to combat gender-based violence and to ensure that those who commit crimes against women and children face the full force of the law.
