A DRIVER’S licence programme in Loeriesfontein has made a significant impact on the local community, with nearly 50 residents benefiting from the initiative to date.

The programme, funded by Loeriesfontein and Khobab Wind Farms, aims to provide residents with the opportunity to acquire their driver’s licences, thereby broadening access to job opportunities and promoting road safety.

The second phase of the programme saw eight participants take their driver’s license tests, with three successfully passing. An additional 10 individuals also sat for their learner’s license test. The programme has not only equipped participants with driving skills but also boosted their confidence and employability.

One of the programme beneficiaries, Niclodian Nel, said, “This opportunity has made a significant difference in my life. Having a valid driver’s licence has opened up more employment opportunities for me, as many jobs require it.”

The programme has also contributed to community empowerment through job creation and skills development, with local instructors appointed to facilitate training and local businesses contracted to provide transportation and meals for participants.
